Frequently Asked Questions
How long do pavers last?
Pavers can last 25-50 years as long as they are maintained properly.
What maintenance do pavers need?
Pavers should be cleaned and sealed every 2-3 years along with re-sanding the paver joints.
What are the advantages of sealing my pavers?
Sealing the pavers will enhance the colors, harden the joint sand, prevent staining and mold, and keep the pavers from shifting due to joint sand loss.
What if I don’t seal my pavers?
You will have to clean them more often and stains from oil, leaves, and spills will be harder, if not impossible to remove. You will lose joint sand causing the pavers to shift and settle.
How thick are driveway pavers?
Driveways are done using paver units that are 2 3/8” thick.
How thick should the base material be?
Patios should have a minimum of 4” of base. Driveways should have a minimum of 6” of base.
Should pavers be sealed right after being installed?
Pavers should cure for about 30 days before sealing.
Do I need a permit to install pavers?
Most counties only require a permit if installing pavers in a right of way.
What do pavers cost?
Pavers range from $5.00 per sq. ft. to $12 per sq. ft. depending on the size of the project.
What sand is used between the joints of the pavers?
Typically, a multigrain silica sand is used. Another option would be polymeric sand, which hardens like
grout, and is an upcharge.
